I would like to advertise a position to the 3DEM community which would be suitable for a postdoctoral researcher with interest in cell ultrastructure at King’s College London.

The successful candidate will develop an operational pipeline to apply Correlative Light Electron Microscopy (CLEM) analysis to study the molecular mechanisms that regulate intra-organelle communication at the nanoscale. The goal is to develop approaches to analyse mitochondrial-ER interactions and correlate dynamic behaviour in live cells and within intact tissues using light microscopy (LM) with direct correlation to the nanoscale architecture by electron microscopy (EM). This will be applied to two current projects within the King’s College London British Heart Foundation (BHF) Centre of Excellence, aimed at understanding the role of specific molecules in controlling heart disease through organelle dynamics, function and subcellular positioning. The candidate must have an advanced background in electron microscopy and ideally in using and applying electron microscopy to study proteins within cells or tissues. A good grounding in basic cell biology and an understanding of cardiac and organelle biology would be highly advantageous.
