[3dem] GRS/GRC on Ligand Recognition and Molecular Gating

Dear EM community

the last years have been incredible exciting and have shown what cryo-EM is capable of and that we are here to stay and make a difference. 
Thanks to the “resolution revolution” and the constant redefinition of protein size limitation cryo-EM has become a real competitor of X-ray crystallography in the field of membrane proteins, where resolutions around 3.5A are the average. 
Hence, the attendance of cryo-EM people in less method-orientated conferences has grown significantly. 

I have the honor to be the chair of the upcoming 2016 Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Ligand Recognition and Molecular Gating.  
The GRS and the subsequent Gordon Research Conference (GRC) will take place on January 30-31and January 31- February 5,respectively, in Italy.
The meetings focus on the structure-function relationship of three important classes of membrane proteins: receptors, transporters and ion channels, where cryo-EM reached many break-throughs in the last years. 

Crina Nimigean (GRC chair) and I are still looking for good candidates to attend and speak at the conference. 
There are still slots free for oral presentations for the GRS and GRC to be selected from abstract submission.
