Research Assistant/Lab Manager/Staff Scientist in cryo-electron microscopy

Case Western Reserve University



The Cleveland Center for Membrane and Structural Biology (CCMSB) at Case
Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a Research
Assistant to manage a cryo-electron microscopy laboratory. Cleveland is a
culturally diverse city on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie with easy
access to museums, theater, a world class symphony, fine dining, major
league sports, shopping and outdoor activities. The CCMSB is a
multidisciplinary center with faculty expertise in X-ray crystallography,
NMR spectroscopy, cryoEM, electron paramagnetic resonance, computational
modeling and biophysical techniques. A unique strength of the CCMSB is a
research focus on membrane proteins. The cryoEM manager will work in a
collaborative research environment using state-of-the-art FEI and JEOL
cryo-electron microscopes for cryoEM single particle and tomography
applications.



Job responsibilities include overseeing the cryoEM instrumentation,
training new users, and assisting in the development of the research
collaborations. Experience in transmission electron microscopy is required.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with other
researchers and graduate students are important. Prior experience in cryoEM
single particle or tomography applications is a plus.



Annual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
