For those who might be interested, there is an open position available at the HHMI CryoEM Shared Resource at Janelia Farm Research Campus. Below are the details.
The HHMI CryoEM Shared Resource at Janelia Farm is a state-of-the-art cryoEM facility. It serves HHMI labs nationwide for cutting-edge research in structural biology by providing access to two powerful FEI Titan Krios cryo-electron microscopes. The facility also hosts an FEI Tecnai 12 cryoEM and cryoEM sample preparation systems. The facility is now seeking candidates to fill a research specialist position.
Responsibilities:

  *   Help maintain and operate various equipment including the two Titan Krios, Tecnai 12 and sample preparation systems.
  *   Receive and properly handle various samples from HHMI users at other sites and help make the frozen hydrate samples ready to load for the Titan Krios.
  *   Assist in user's data collection and preliminary data processing.
  *   Assist in training users on operating equipment.
Qualifications:

  *   Bachelor degree in physics, material science or biology AND five years of related research experience; or, an advanced degree in physics, material science or biology AND two or more years of related research experience.


  *   Experience in handling of cryogenic agents and cryoEM sample preparation.


  *   Experience in operation of a TEM and particularly a cryoEM; experience with any FEI Tecnai microscope is a plus.


  *   Must have basic laboratory skills including preparation of solutions and reagents, using balances and pH meters, disposing of hazardous waste, and attention to detail.


  *   Willing to learn new tools/technologies and motivated to develop new techniques
