The position will be initially available for two years after which it can potentially become a permanent position. Interviewing will start immediately until the position is filled.

Research Technician (f/m) - Code 1200/2013/9
The DZNE is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes nine high-performing sites in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten.
A research technician position (e.g. BTA, MTA) is immediately available in Dr. Al-Amoudi's group at the German Center for Neurodegenerative diseases (DZNE) in Bonn. The main interest of our group is to gather structural information to understand molecular mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson's diseases. To achieve these goals, we will use multidisciplinary approach including confocal laser scanning microscopy and cryo-electron microscopy and tomography of vitreous sections of tissues or primary cell cultures of wild-type and mutants from animal model systems.
The applicant should have previous experience in electron microscopy preparation techniques. Expertise in tissue culture, a good background with the light microscopy and with the basic protocols of biochemistry and cell and molecular biology is required. The candidate should have good organizational skills and basic proficiency with computers. Responsibility of the successful candidate will include maintenance of laboratory areas, disposal of biological waste and purchasing laboratory materials. The successful applicant will work to support all routine tasks. Proficiency in English and a high motivation to conduct research as part of a team are essential. Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst - TVöD). The job location is Bonn, Germany. The job is initially temporary limited for two years and under positive review could be made permanent.
