2 Postdoctoral Scientist Positions

Cryomicroscopy of Macromolecular Assemblies

Two 3-year postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the laboratory of
Peter Rosenthal at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research to study the
structure and function of macromolecular complexes by single particle
cryomicroscopy or cryotomography.

Project areas include (1) entry and assembly of lipid-enveloped viruses or (2)
high resolution architecture and dynamics of mammalian cells. We are also
interested in the development of new experimental or computational methods in
cryomicroscopy relevant to these project areas.

Excellent facilities for biochemistry, light microscopy, computation, and
electron microscopy are available, including a 120 keV cryomicroscope and a 300
keV field emission gun microscope (G2 Polara).

You should be highly motivated and have a strong background in structural
biology. Previous experience in electron microscopy, image analysis, X-ray
crystallography, or protein expression and purification will be an advantage.
