Postdoctoral position in cryo-electron tomography at Texas Medical Center
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jun Liu at University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Our laboratory is interested in 3-D structure/function of molecular machines in cells (www.cryoet.org<http://www.cryoet.org>). Specifically, we developed two model systems (Lyme disease spirochete B. burgdorferi and E. coli minicell) to study the molecular basis of bacterial motility, signal transduction and bacteriophage infection by using high throughput cryo-electron tomography and subtomogram averaging. Our research projects are funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Welch Foundation. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in microbiology, biophysics or a related field. Please send a CV and statement of research interests along with contact information for three references to Dr. Jun Liu (jun.liu.1 at uth.tmc.edu<mailto:jun.liu.1 at uth.tmc.edu>).
UT Medical School at Houston is equipped with state-of-the art cryo-electron microscopy instruments, including a 300kv electron microscope with FEG (FEI TF30 Polara) and a new direct electron detector (Gatan K2 Summit). As part of the largest Medical Center in the world, we have unique opportunity to collaborate and interact with other academic components including Baylor College of Medicine, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University, and Texas A&M Institute of Bioscience and Technology at Houston, Texas.
