Dear colleagues,

The group of Marino Zerial at the Max Planck Institute for Cell Biology
and Genetics, Dresden, Germany, is looking for a highly-motivated
post-doctoral candidate with a strong background in EM and cell biology to
work on the following projects:

1. The study of endosome compartmentalization in membrane
subdomains using Correlative Light-Electron Microscopy (CLEM) and
Electron Tomography. This work will be complemented by genetic
perturbations to understand underlying machineries and the
structure-function relation of the endocytic pathway.

2. The 3D reconstruction of the liver tissue using Serial Block-Face SEM.
This project aims at understanding the design principles of liver tissue
structure and function, using the developing and regenerating mouse liver as
a model system.

Both projects will be carried out in the lab of Marino Zerial in close
collaboration with Jean Marc Verbavatz, the Electron Microscopy (EM)
leader at the MPI-CBG
(http://www.mpi-cbg.de/en/facilities/profiles/electronmicroscopy.
Html).

Candidates should have a degree in biology and strong expertise in EM. An
excellent command of English together with good communication skills and
self-motivation are also required.
Candidates interested in this position should send a copy of their CV and
motivation letter together with contacts of two referees to Marino Zerial
(zerial at mpi-cbg.de) and Jean Marc Verbavatz (verbavat at mpi-cbg.de). The
position is available immediately.
The Max Planck Society is an equal opportunity employer: handicapped
individuals are strongly encouraged to apply. The Center for Systems Biology,
the MPI-CBG and the MPI-PKS aim to increase the number of women in
scientific positions. Female candidates are therefore particularly welcome.

Could you please circulate the information within your lab and EM contacts ?

Any help will be much appreciated.
