[3dem] SPIDER error in path setting

Hi,

I am finding difficult in setting environmental variable path for SPIDER
Image processing software  . i copied and paste the code given in the
document
in the bash.bashrc ,after this i am unable to run some basic command ,bash:
no such file or directory error.
could any body give me the solution for this error.
weather i need to reinstall the ubuntu 11.4?
