Mon Mar 7 00:06:19 PST 2011
We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist with a computational
background to join the group of Sjors Scheres on the development of new
statistical image processing approaches, such as maximum likelihood
refinement, for cryo-electron microscopy. Our current research focuses
on reliable structure determination of relatively small (~200-400 kDa)
macromolecular complexes with no or low symmetry that may occur in
multiple conformations. Collaborations with experimental groups form an
essential part of our research.
You are highly motivated and have a PhD in structural biology,
bioinformatics, image processing or a related subject, good
communication skills and a strong analytical mind. You have excellent
skills in scientific programming and algorithm development, and are keen
to apply these to the area of structural biology.
For informal enquiries, please contact Sjors Scheres
(scheres at mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk <mailto:scheres at mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk>), or visit
http://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/groups/scheres for more information.
You will be awarded an MRC Career Development Fellowship, which is a
three year training and development position for a postdoctoral
scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies or is moving
into a new research discipline. Your salary will be supported by a
flexible pay and reward policy, 30 days annual leave entitlement, an
optional MRC final salary pension scheme and excellent on-site sports
and social facilities.
Applications are handled by the RCUK Shared Services Centre; to apply
please visit our job board at https://ext.ssc.rcuk.ac.uk and complete an
