[Sjors Scheres]

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist with a computational 
background to join the group of Sjors Scheres on the development of new 
statistical image processing approaches, such as maximum likelihood 
refinement, for cryo-electron microscopy. Our current research focuses 
on reliable structure determination of relatively small (~200-400 kDa) 
macromolecular complexes with no or low symmetry that may occur in 
multiple conformations. Collaborations with experimental groups form an 
essential part of our research.

You are highly motivated and have a PhD in structural biology, 
bioinformatics, image processing or a related subject, good 
communication skills and a strong analytical mind. You have excellent 
skills in scientific programming and algorithm development, and are keen 
to apply these to the area of structural biology.

You will be awarded an MRC Career Development Fellowship, which is a 
three year training and development position for a postdoctoral 
scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies or is moving 
into a new research discipline. Your salary will be supported by a
