Applications are invited for a full-time research associate position to 
join a research group within the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell-Matrix 
Research (http://www.wellcome-matrix.org). The Cell-Matrix centre is an 
interdisciplinary research centre embedded within the Faculty of Life 
Sciences at the University of Manchester. The project will investigate 
the mechanism of action of tolloid proteinases which have essential 
roles in tissue assembly and developmental patterning. The research will 
employ a range of biochemical and biophysical techniques including 
electron microscopy. We have a well equipped EM facility with FEI Polara

The successful candidate should be highly motivated, have (or expect to 
hold shortly) a PhD in structural biology, biophysics or biochemistry 
and have practical experience of structural biology/biophysical methods. 
Applicants should be able to demonstrate creativity and problem-solving 
ability, meticulous laboratory technique and record-keeping, along with 
a strong work ethic.

The position is funded by the BBSRC for 34 months with an anticipated 
start date around 1 October 2011 and starting salary of £29,099 p.a.
