[3dem] Postdoc Vacancies at CICbioGUNE-Bilbao (Spain)

Two post-doctoral vacancies are open in the group of Nicola G. A. Abrescia at the Structural Biology Unit at the CIC bioGUNE, near Bilbao (Spain) (http://www.cicbiogune.es <http://www.cicbiogune.es/> ). 

The first vacancy (Ref. 2011/037) is internally funded by the CIC bioGUNE for a period of three years (€ 28.145,88 gross per annum).

The second one (Ref. 2011/065) is available applying through extra-mural funding (EMBO; Marie Curie_IIF, Juan de la Cierva, etc).

Abrescia’s Lab. uses both X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM to determine the structures of large macromolecular complexes and viruses. We are interested in virus assembly principles and virus-host recognition mechanisms collaborating with groups of worldwide recognition. 

The CICbioGUNE has a state-of-the art infrastructure from protein production to structural analysis (as crystallization and x-ray facilities, a JEOL JEM-2200FS 200kV field emission gun (FEG) electron microscope with Omega filter and a NMR 800 MHz Bruker US2 Avance II magnet equipped with a crioprobe). 

The Institute is integrated in a multidisciplinary environment suited to foster scientific excellence.

 

Applicants should possess a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject, have a high level of technical competence in electron microscopy with particular emphasis on hybrid methods. Experience in molecular biology (cloning, protein purification etc.) is a plus. The postholders will primarily work on two ongoing virus projects by cEM and cET.
