Two positions for highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientists or Research 
Scientists in the Department of Cell Biology at UT Southwestern Medical 
Center will be open from January 2012. The initial contracts will be one 
year, and can be extended to three years. Compensations for these 
positions will follow NIH standards with merit-based rewards. We are 
looking for scientists with strong interest in applying cryoEM 
techniques to address important biological questions. These positions, 
funded by a newly-awarded CPRIT grant, will apply recently-developed 
techniques in the laboratory, and focus on understanding the structural 
basis for the function of the telomere and telomerase system. The 
projects will represent a collaborative investigation with other 
laboratories in the Department. The candidates therefore should be 
team-players with relatively good communication skills. Candidates for 
the first position need to have strong expertise in molecular biology 
and biochemistry, especially the cloning, expression and purification of 
recombinant proteins in heterogeneous systems. Some experience with 
biophysical tools including electron microscopy will be a plus, but not 
a must. They need be open to learn new techniques in cryoEM and 
structure determination. Candidates suitable for the second opening 
should have good training in cryoEM from specimen preparation to image 
processing and data interpretation, and should be eager to learn 
biological applications for future research program. All interested
