There is one week left to apply to the “IMOD Software Workshop for Biological Specimens” hosted by the Boulder Lab for 3D Electron Microscopy of Cells.

The workshop will be held at the beautiful campus of the University of Colorado, Boulder from Aug 2-5, 2011. Come visit the Rocky Mountains before MSA.

The workshop will cover dual-axis plastic section tomography, joining of serial section tomograms, tomogram flattening, segmentation, and analysis. The course will also cover cryo-tomography, CTF correction, and gold erasing. PEET (3D volume averaging) will NOT be covered. There will be time at the end of the workshop for participants to work on their own data that they bring from home. The workshop will be organized with both lectures and hands-on practicals in a computer-teaching lab. Each person will have an identical computer workstation and personal hard-drive.

A limited number of applicants (25) will be selected due to space considerations. Priority will be given to applicants who are lab trainers so they can train other members of their lab. A $225 registration fee will cover course materials (including a hard drive for data), lunches at the new “Center for Community Dining Center” (http://housing.colorado.edu/dining/locations-hours/center-community-dining), and a workshop dinner. Participants must pay for their own transportation, lodging, and food other than lunches. Do not send the registration fee until you have been selected as a participant for the workshop.

The online application below will be available until 5PM (MST) on April 22, 2011. All applicants will be notified of their status by 5PM (MST) on April 29, 2011.
