[3dem] Cryo-EM Workshop in Beijing

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the “Third K. H. Kuo Summer School of Electron Microscopy and Crystallography: International Workshop of 3D Molecular Imaging by Cryo-Electron Microscopy” will be held in Beijing, China, August 8 -12, 2010. A number of leading scientists in the field have already agreed to speak there. Modeled after the EMBO courses, the workshop will cover both fundamentals in cryo-electron microscopy and cutting-edge research. It will consist of 2.5 days of lectures, followed by 1.5 days of practicals. The workshop will be hosted by the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The workshop will be open to any interested scientists in the field. Pending the outcome of a grant application to the International Union of Crystallography, we hope to provide 10 - 15 fellowships to help young scientists to attend the workshop. This fellowship program in the previous workshop in 2008 of the summer school series was very popular and a great success (http://saturn.med.nyu.edu/research/sb/wanglab/school2008/index.htm).
