University Title: Research Area Specialist Senior/Lead
Working Title: Electron Microscopy Suite Manager
FLSA: Exempt
Standard Hours: 40 per week
Salary Minimum: $65,000

The Life Sciences Institute (LSI) at the University of Michigan is  
seeking an experienced electron microscopist
to oversee the operation of the newly established biological EM suite  
under the direction of Dr. Georgios Skiniotis,
Research Assistant Professor. This EM unit will be equipped with a 100  
kV Morgagni, a 120kV G2 Spirit, and
a 200 kV FEG TF20, along with auxiliary equipment for Cryo-EM  
applications.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:
Overseeing the smooth operation of the EM suite,
Equipment maintenance,
User training and support,
Participation in research projects,
Recommending and implementing solutions

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and ability.

Departmental Qualifications:
Master’s degree required. Doctorate degree preferred. At least 5 years  
related experience. Experience in biological EM
(low dose / Cryo-EM), sample preparation, and image processing are  
highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills are essential.  Strong interpersonal skills and  
experience participating in a highly interactive and
collaborative team environment are desired.
