The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology seeks to fill

  A Cryo-EM Facility Manager Position

The position is available as soon as possible and is initially  
limited to 5 years.

Job description: The candidate will be involved in the development  
and application of advanced electron microscopy technologies such as  
high-pressure freezing, correlative light and electron microscopy,  
single particle cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-electron  
tomography. The job responsibilities will include operation and  
maintenance of state-of-the-art electron microscopes and accessory  
equipment as well as computational data analysis.

Requirements: The Electron Microscopy Unit is currently undergoing an  
exciting period of upgrading and expansion. Therefore we are seeking  
for a highly motivated candidate. The candidate should have a degree  
in biological sciences, engineering or a related field of science,  
training in the use and routine maintenance of electron microscopes,  
as well as expertise in specimen preparation techniques. Previous  
experience in cryo-EM and image processing would be an advantage.  
Strong written and oral communication skills in English are considered.

Payment: Payment depends on personal conditions and qualification  
according to the directive of TVöD. Social benefits correspond to  
those of the public service.
