Dear all,

The latest release of the Xmipp package (1.1) is now available for
download via: http://xmipp.cnb.csic.es

Xmipp (see J.Struc.Biol. (2004) 148, 194-204) is an open-source image
processing suite for 3DEM, mainly focussed at single-particle
reconstructions. Apart from many tools also found in other packages,
Xmipp contains programs for ART+blobs reconstruction, self-organizing
maps and maximum-likelihood image refinement.

Besides bug fixes, the latest changes include:
- addition of xmipp_MLrefine3D for 3D maximum-likelihood
classification of heterogeneous data (see Nat. Methods (2007) 4, 27-19)
- Addition of xmipp_enhance_PSD for improved PSD visualization
- Improvement of xmipp_assign_CTF and xmipp_adjust_CTF for more robust
CTF estimation
- addition of xmipp_spi22ccp4 for conversion between Spider and CCP4
maps, following the guidelines of the EMDB.
- a new system for building the system-indpendent sources (SCons)
- distribution of binaries (tested for Ubuntu 6.60LTS, SuSe 9.3, and
Fedora Core 6)

have fun!
The Xmipp team
