Postdoctoral position: Cryo-EM analysis of ribosomal frameshifting. Division of Structural Biology, University of Oxford.

Applications are invited for a post doctoral research assistant to work on a project studying ribosomal frameshifting by cryo-EM. This project is a joint collaboration between Dr Robert Gilbert (Oxford University) and Dr Ian Brierley (Cambridge University, Department of Pathology). The person appointed would play a central role in the development of this joint programme in the structural analysis of ribosomes engaged in unusual translational events. Overall, the project would involve the collection of electron microscope data, image analysis, 3D particle reconstruction techniques and the computationally-assisted interpretation of resulting 3D maps. The successful candidate will be expected to have experience in structural analysis of macromolecular complexes, with a background in either cryo-EM and image analysis, or the computational interpretation of cryo-EM data/maps. Some knowledge of programming would be an advantage in addition to a working knowledge of software packag!
 es used in image analysis.
