SUMMARY:

A postdoc position is available to use cryo EM tomography and/or
single particle methods to study the critical machinery involved in
microtubule nucleation. The proposed EM studies complement and expand
upon on-going efforts using cryo-EM, x-ray crystallography,
functional kinetics and cell biological approaches to understand the
detailed mechanism of microtubule nucleation by the centrosome.
UCSF has state-of-the-art EM hardware including a FEI Polara 300kv
FEG, helium stage with a unique high-resolution 4kx4k lens-coupled
CCD camera. The group is well established in all aspects of cryo EM
tomography data collection and processing as well as centrosome biology.
