The Microscopical Society of Canada invites you to attend its 2005
meeting.

Date:
May18-20, 2005.

Location:
McMaster University
Hamilton, Ontario. Canada.

Overview
The aim of this special symposium is to create links between the
microscopy and synchrotron communities and links between the life and
physical sciences. Focus topics for sessions include cryo-electron
microscopy and cryo-electron tomography with biological samples,
scanning probe techniques (high-low resolution), spectroscopic
techniques in the TEM, fluorescence microscopy techniques etc. We have
also contacted the Canadian Light Source (CLS) user group and the
Canadian Institute for Synchrotron Radiation (CISR) for a special
symposium within MSC meeting on x-ray micro-spectroscopy techniques
related to life sciences and physical sciences.

Invited speakers:
Wolfgang Baumeister, Alasdair Steven, Sriram Subramanian, Chris
Jacobsen, Andreas Heinrich, Martin Hÿtch, Matthew Weyland, Konstantine
Kaznatcheev, Peter Fischer, Brendan Griffin, Angus Wilkinson, Harry
Leung, Frederica Brandizzi, Cynthia Goh, Gelsomina De Stasio.

The meeting will include the following workshops:
Cryo-electron microscopy, spectromicroscopy, electron backscatter
diffraction (EBSD), electron energy loss spectroscopy and energy
filtered imaging (EELS/EFTEM), atomic resolution analysis of defects
and strains in solids (HRTEM), scanning probe techniques (SPM),
confocal and fluorescence microscopy methods (CFM), cryomicrotomy and
microtomy of hard materials (ultramicrotomy), light microscopy and
analysis of electron and light microscopy images (LM-IA).
