The National Center for Macromolecular Imaging (NCMI) at Baylor College of
Medicine, Houston, Texas has several postdoctoral openings. We are seeking
individuals who are interested in studying the structure of biological
complexes and/or improving the technology of electron cryomicroscopy. The
NCMI (http://ncmi.bcm.tmc.edu) is a NIH-NCRR funded Center with ~25
researchers involved in various aspects of this exciting field. The NCMI
is actively involved in over 50 collaborative and service projects of
various biological specimens ranging from membrane proteins, channels,
machines, viruses and protein complexes. The NCMI is equipped with several
state of the art microscopes, including a 300 keV FEG scope with a liquid
helium stage. This position will offer a good deal of flexibility in
selection of specific specimens to study, and will present many
opportunities for professional development in this exciting field.

The NCMI is also part of the Gulf Coast Consortia of Structural and
Computational Biology with participation of over 140 faculty members in 6
academic institutions in the Houston and Galveston area. There is an
active cryoEM community in the area, including eight independent cryoEM
labs with a variety of equipment and expertise. This makes it an excellent
environment for electron cryomicroscopy research.

Interested candidates send a complete CV, research experience and names of
three references to Wah Chiu (email: wah at bcm.tmc.edu).
