Research Scientist (Ph.D. or equivalent)

to operate a new facility for imaging biological macromolecular
complexes using a Zeiss (LEO) 912 energy filter transmission
cryo-electron microscope. The laboratory features a staffed wet lab,
dark room, film scanner, vacuum coater, 2K CCD camera, and
supercomputing facilities. The Laboratory for Molecular Imaging is
located on the UT Houston campus in the new Institute of Molecular
Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases directed by Nobel laureate
Ferid Murad.

The facility houses regular workshops and engages in method and software
development in collaboration with our adjacent Laboratory for Structural
Bioinformatics. The appointee is expected to take full advantage of the
provided CryoEM technologies and to establish collaborative ties with
neighboring computational and CryoEM facilities in Houston. The position
is funded for three years and can be extended.

A strong technical background in electron microscopy is essential and
familiarity with biological research and computational image processing
would be a plus. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applicants
