Reference Number: 3006808

We are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to join an enthusiastic
team working in the general area of cryo-electron microscopy and
structural biology. The team is focused on developing and using
cryo-electron microscopy techniques, particularly 3D reconstruction for
the analysis of protein-protein interactions and the responses of cells
in regulating biological activity.

The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate a leadership
role in the research performance of the new Cryo-TEM by developing and
conducting research to support their own research and that of users of
the national facility.

There is a high degree of flexibility on the precise research agenda
that may be undertaken by applicants. A primary consideration will be
the excellence
and potential impact of the program proposed and the suitability of the
applicant and
the research program in the context of a multi-user national research
facility.

Applicants should possess a PhD in either structural biology, biophysics
or protein chemistry with a proven track record in structural biology ?
based research. Strong skills in analysis of macromolecular structures
by electron microscopy are essential and expertise in image processing
using single particle analysis, electron crystallography or electron
tomography routines. Experience with different forms of microanalytical
microscopy used in the analysis of protein structure is also desirable.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at Academic Research Level B
for four years initially with renewal subject to funding. The
remuneration package will be in the range of $65,249 - $77,483 per
